Bible Study Introduction

Hello Everyone,

This is Mr.PJ and I am about to embark on a journey through the book of John. I will share it here in both written and video format as  I expand the features on the website. Please be patient as I work out the kinks in the system.

I use the New King James Version (NKJV)of the Bible most often and this si the version that I recommend for people to read. However, in this study you are going to see me refer to the Message Bible (MES) more than the NKJV that is only because I want to give you an alternative language to expand your thoughts on the subject. Different translations offer different words that may give you a better understanding of what God is saying to you.

The message has a great opening section about what we should do when we study the Bible.

READ PRAY THINK LIVE

Read:

Simply read the bible sounds simple enough but take time to get alone and in a place with little or no distractions as you begin to go through the pages of this life changing book. You should always pray first but you will understand more about prayer as you read on.

Pray:

Pray simply means to talk with God. Prayer is the most important aspect of your daily life. It is the one concept that you can do and no one can stop you. Paul a great teacher and disciple of Jesus said Pray without ceasing... Do not stop... When I was a new Christian I took that very seriously. I tried to pray all the time. I realized quickly that is not what Paul meant.

Prayer as a new believer is more like you asking a friend for stuff, or help, or to explain... You get the idea! It is more about you because you really do need the help. Slowly over the course of time you will realize that being a Christian is not about you. It is about a relationship you have with God and how you teach others to have that same type of relationship.  That is what I am doing now. I am actually praying in my heart for the correct words to write so that you may be encouraged and come to better understand who this Jesus guy really is.

Pray now, Don't know how? Simple.. God...(Insert your message) if it is your will, in Jesus Name, Amen. That is the unofficial form view and as a new believer it is a good start. If you are going to start with me on this Journey through John then here is an example if a prayer that I would pray for us.

Dear Lord,

I thank you so much for this day, for this person who wants to understand who you are to them. I do nto know the situations they have been through in this life but  I do know that you have the power to overcome all things in their life. I would ask you for understanding as we open Your words and beging to read them . I would ask You to have our hearts open that it would listen and take root into our spirit. I would ask that you would give us opportunity to share these words with someone else today, so that we may see you working in our lives to help others, even now as we think we are not worthy of these words. I would ask you to guide us and teach us your simple and hidden truths. Show us Lord how to be better people through your word. In Jesus name. Amen.

I did not use if it is Gods will because as you learn to Listen to God you will begin to know what Gods will is for your life. Which brings us to the next topic. Think.

Think:

Thinking is more than what does this word mean on the page, it is a time to reflect on the actual words, but also to whom it was written to? What was the conversation, what where the people doing? Many of the things that Jesus did you may not believe at first. It is like seeing a magician for the first time, your amazed at what you just viewed. A few weeks later you see someone else doing the same trick and your not as easily impressed... The Bible is different, the more you read it the more you understand that the words you read today, will not generate the same thoughts later in your walk with Jesus. Think about the words, the concepts, the deeds and how you can apply them to today.

Live:

This is live as in go out and do as you have read, prayed, and thought about. Find one person to share this with and watch how you can take a simple action and watch as God transforms those around you. Your life should reflect who you are, and right now that person should be changing into the person God designed you to be. Yes God designed you, he has a plan for you to follow and that plan is called life. It is a freedom knowing that no matter your situation in life, it is God who guides it and provides for you.
